Never Forget, NYC
when i am lacking motivation and/or creativity i watch TED talks. i was lucky enough to be apart of slc’s local TEDX event last may and i was inspired.
this particular TEDX piece is about one of my favorite subjects, burning man and more specifically my favorite part about burning man, the temple. there is also a clip of the earth harp which gives me chills.
they very accurately speak about what the temple means, at least for me. “here you let it go, what you let go of becomes an offering for others.” beautiful.

inspired by whitney’s recent blog post about spring fashion’s “must haves” i decided to do my own. i bet our picks are very similar :)
first of all. everyone needs a good “vintage” bike. make sure it’s as heavy as the one i purchased so you won’t be motivated to bike up any hills. in the words of keith carlsen, it will help get me “hipster fit.”

since you will be riding your bike around slc, you will need some good shorts. these are the best i can find and with american apparel just down the street from my house, i do not have to ride my heavy bike up a hill. sporty and lacy. perfect. very similar to the top whitney picked.

next up, over sized chiffon button down shirt. also, by american apparel. this item is essential to the spring/summer wardrobe. light and loose so you won’t get sweaty. these have also been doubling as work attire for me. a lot of value with this item.

toms are pretty cliche (not that there isn’t anything else cliche about this post) but they are awesome and comfy. i liked the shoes whitney featured on her blog but i would die in 5 inch heels and be like 6 ft tall, that would just be dangerous. make yourself stick out and have andrew rice paint you a pair. he did these for me a few years ago.

everyone needs some good sunnies. a pair of alues are essential. plus my awesome friend case owns the company.

last but not least, snuff. it’s super incriminating which is always fun. i recommend el presidente. the boys at MSI are responsible for this bad habit.

ok. well having a bit of ADD today and wanted to check out jesse walker’s pecha kucha talk. (watch here) i absolutely love the parties and music that jesse is involved with and think he does great things for our little slc. while browsing jesse’s youtube channel, i found some fantastic clips from the groove garden parties at the garage this summer. just recently i was chatting with some friends about how fun those parties were. what is not to love about day time outdoor techno parties with cornhole? since it’s not going to snow, thus no skiing, i think we should start them back up early. i will definitely be grooving to groove garden sets the rest of the work day.
andy sent me this song last week. clearly still stuck in my head and perfect for this smooth grey monday.

despite it being overcast, a ruined louis vuitton scarf and a monday, this song “feels good.”
benefit of listening to my music on shuffle, smooth old jams like this. pretty sure i featured this song on a playlist i made freshman year called “make out” really subtle…
